Union Iron Works 1938: Joe Langffeld, an expert assembler at Union Iron Works, puts together a corn sheller. The backbone of Union Iron and Beall Improvements is a corn sheller, designed in 1872 by James Beall, the inventive genius behind both organizations. Union Iron has about 25,000 shellers in all parts of the world. Shellers have been sent as far away as Bogota, Colombia; England; South America; and Paris, France. (H file photo)
