The A.E. Staley Administration in Decatur, Illinois. Now known as Tate & Lyle. Ground was broke on February 16, 1929, for this building corner of William and 22nd Streets. 14 stories high and 206 feet tall at the time, it was the tallest building in downstate Illinois. Exterior features Indiana limestone, 60-foot wide steps , five doorways with bronze arches, an observation deck enclosed in glass. April 19, 1930, was called “The Castle in the Cornfields” and “The Lighthouse of the Prairie.”
