The “Castle in the Cornfields.” Just the silhouette of the A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company headquarters shows it was made with great detail. The photo was taken in the 1940’s. The 14-floor structure was opened in 1930 and at that time was the tallest building in downstate Illinois. Today it is the headquarters for Tate & Lyle, and the point of many memories from generations of employees.
